A family garden

The original terrace was narrow, mainly in the shade and hardly used.

We widened the terrace for family meals and entertaining. The sawn sandstone and sandstone walling work perfectly together as they should. A cantilevered bench links with the floating steps to create simple modern harmony throughout.

Mass planting of Hackonochloa macra and Calamagrostis acutifolia Karl Foerster adds movement plus the curvaceous mounds of Hebe rakaensis slow falling down the steps creates serenity within the planting.Seasonal pops of colour are provided by the many bulbs that appear throughout the year.
